A 9 years old boy presented to pediatric OPD in November 2021 with sudden onset of sore throat with fever and headache. Patient also had complaints of nausea and vomiting. On examination body temperature was 39°C, swollen and tender anterior cervical lymph nodes, inflamed tonsils and patchy discrete exudate over pharynx.

This is a case of pharyngitis caused by Streptococcus pyogenes. The organism is beta hemolytic and catalase negative. Definitive identification is made by bacitracin sensitivity testing (sensitive).
