 Q. A 21 year old sexually active male comes to skin OPD with complaints of single, indurated, painless penile ulcer with regional lymphadenopathy. (Pic1) Staining of smear prepared from exudate was performed in microbiology lab. (Pic 2)

    Staining - silver impregnation method

    Diagnosis-
    1. Examination of exudate shows presence of Treponema pallidum
    2. Presence of single, painless, indurated penile ulcer with regional lymphadenopathy

    Thus the subject is diagnosed with primary syphilis

    Diagnosis: the examination of the exudate reveals the presence of T. pallidum.
    From pic 1 and it’s description the subject/ patient is suffering from syphilis.

    Trepnoma are extremely thin & delicate.thet reduce silver nitrate to metalic silver that is deposited on surface , making them thicker.
