A 30 year old male farm worker by occupation, presented with weakness, epigastric pain, anorexia since a month and diarrhoea since 3 days. On physical examination he had pallor and peripheral blood smear examination revealed microcytic hypochromic anaemia. On stool microscopy non-bile stained eggs were observed and occult blood was seen.

Provisional diagnosis: Iron deficiency anemia due to worm infestation.
ReplyDeleteparasite most commonly involved in GI blood loss is hook worm. the ova of hook worm are non-bile stained.
other parasites with non-bile stained ova are: H. nana, H. diminuta, E. vermicularis.
