Case 15

A 23 year-old female resident of Basti district presented with fever, chills and rigor at every 48 hours for the last seven days. The patient developed convulsions prior to admission. She was started on ceftriaxone and amikacin by a private medical practitioner but did not improve. On physical examination, muscle tone and tendon reflexes were reduced. i) What is the provisional diagnosis? ii)What are various diagnostic modalities?

    etiological agent is Plasmodium falciparum.
